Do you think that Ron Mueck would be more interesting to discuss in regard to Deformation than the Audience. As Michelle said, you can argue that all art explores the role of the audience, as art without an audience is nothing (you can't create art alone in your room; a viewer is necessary to give it context, a subjective reading... This point is obviously debatable, but I think it's pretty spot on). So if I had to pop Mueck into a little box it would probably be deformation. Deformation of the body specifically. Blowing up or shrinking down a subject that is so common, and is taken for granted (ie. our body) is obviously going to affect an audience, but perhaps due to the deformation that has been created? Anyway, I'm rambling...
hmm i think if you wanted to put him in something (aside from audience) i think body would be more appropriate than deformation. i mean deformation makes sense the way you explained it i guess, but i dont see these bodies as particularly deformed by the scale change. The change really just makes you more aware of the body and makes you inspect it closer or something
